138a. Amos6 Quimby (John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born about 1778 in Maine. First enumerated in Wiscassett, Maine in 1810, beside his brother David, by 1813 he is in England. His children are recorded born or baptized in New Bedford, Massachusetts or in Pennsylvania. He married, January 7, 1805 at Wiscasset, Lincoln, Maine to Sarah BOYNTON, (born Germany according to the 1880 census listing for son Joseph Austin Quimby) daughter of John and Hannah (Taylor) BOYNTON II, and her sister Susan married David Quimby, brother of Amos.........both brothers were teachers by profession as were many of their children.


[NOTE: Earliest documentation in Pennsylvania is found in the 1790 Census records which list a Jacob QUIMBY living in Vincent twp., Chester county, PA. The household has but one male and 3 females. By 1800 this family is enumerated as the household of John QUIMBY living in Philadelphia, this time including 2 males and 4 females.]

Joseph Austin7 Quimby (Amos6, John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born 1809 in Maine or Pennsylvania, christened 1826 at New Bedford, MA, m.Sarah unknown, she born 1810 in Pennsylvania, they removed to Chester county, PA and later on to Delaware county, PA. Joseph died April 4, 1865.

and according to the 1860 Census of Delaware County, PA,
 they had a daughter named Catherine9 Quimby aged 2 months.

Cutberth Collingswood7 Quimby (Amos6, John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born 1806, died 1827 at New Bedford, MA.

John Boynton Brooks7 Quimby (Amos6, John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born 1819 in Maine or England,  christened 1826 at New Bedford, MA, married Agnes STEPHENS/STEVENS.
