John6

John6 (John/Josiah5, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2)

138c. John6 Quimby (John/Josiah5 Quimby, Jeremiah4, John3, Robert2), born between 1775 and 1784 per the census entries of 1800 and 1810, and the 1830 census narrows the dates to 1780 and 1784. According to birth records his spouse was named Nancy, but no last name has yet been found.  John6 is enumerated as the Head of Household for the first time in 1810 in Goffstown, New Hampshire, and still there in 1820. By 1830 he is living in Hooksett, New Hamsphire between BARNES and DUTTON (or DUSTON) families. The 1830 census shows his family consists of himself, aged 40-50, one male aged 15-20, one male aged 5 to 10, one female aged 40 to 50, one female aged 20 to 30, two females aged 10 to 15 and one female aged 5 to 10. By 1840 the only entries for Goffstown shown are for John7 Quimby, aged 20 to 30 with 2 younger femlaes and one female of adult age; and Moses Quimby**, aged 31 with one male under 5 and 3 females.  Later census records have not yet revealed where John6 and his family removed to after 1830, research is still ongoing at this time.

**(NOTE: The Moses QUIMBY, born 1809 at Hooskett, was a son of John and Nancy Quimby and he married Rosannah PARSONS. HCQ cites this person in Volume 2, as a son of John and Nancy (Dustin) Quimby,  but with NO mention of a sibling named John. The larger point of conflict with data from Volume 2 is that John QUIMBY who married Nancy DUSTIN, according to HCQ, was the son of Moses and Esther (HADLEY) QUIMBY), but this John QUIMBY of Goffstown is identified by earlier census entries of Goffstown as having a mother by the name of widow Lydia Quimby (not Esther) and her husband in the previous census was John Quimby (not Moses). Also note that the 1830 census shows that John QUIMBY living in Hooksett, is 7 doors from Richard7 QUIMBY - see sons of Tristram5 QUIMBY, another son of Jeremiah4 QUIMBY ~ Dee ~)
